Prime Minister Gilani’s Visit to China

Prime Minister Yousef Raza Gilani’s visit to China from May 17, 2011 has become more important than ever before in the backdrop of US attack on Pakistan on May2 and continuous demand by the United States to do more on the Afghan front.

Prime Minister Gilani is scheduled to visit China in order to take part in 60th anniversary of the founding of diplomatic ties between the China and Pakistan. PM Gilani’s visit has become the focal point of many analysts due to the situation in the area after Abbottabad operation by the US on May 2.


Pakistani Parliamentarians has asked the government in Islamabad to re-examination of Pakistan’s cooperation with the US in the field of intelligence and anti-terrorism. Parliamentarians have passed a declaration during the joint session of Pakistani Parliament on May 13. This resolution calls for practical steps to ensure that incidents like May 2 don’t get repeated.

Prime Minister Gilani is will meet with his Chinese counterpart, Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao to discuss issues of mutual interest including the possible purchase of new radar capable of detecting the low flying aircrafts to replace the ageing radars on the western front which are unable to detect the low flying aircrafts.
