Use US Aid to Help Pakistanis: COAS General Kayani

Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, has said that US military aid should be used for the economic development of the Pakistan. He made these remarks while attending the 39th Core Commanders Conference at the GHQ.

Core Commanders of Pakistan Army has asked the current government to divert current US military aid to  provide relief to the people of Pakistan. Core Commanders conference focused on the issues internal security, terrorism, role of the local and international media.


Chief of Army Staff Ashfaq Parvez Kayani has said that troops of the United States were only allowed to train Pakistani soldiers to facilitate the induction of new weapon systems and assistance in the training of the the Frontier Corps to increase their capacity to conduct the counter insurgency operations and now even this cooperation has been stopped.

Chief of Army Staff Ashfaq Parvez Kayani also said that figure of $13billion-$15 billion aid for the Army are completely wrong and misleading. He said that United States has so far only provided $8.6 billion under Coalition Support Fund against the claims of $13 billion.

Out of these 8.6 billion only $1.4 billion were made available to the Pakistan army. He added that a smaller amount was provided to the Pakistan Navy and Air Force while rest was used by the federal government.
