HMAS Toowoomba & PNS Alamgir Took Part in an Exercise in Gulf of Oman
Members of HMAS Toowoomba and the Pakistan Navy’s PNS Alamgir swapped duties for a day during a recent exercise in the Gulf of Oman region of the Middle East.
Between 17 and 18 August 2011, naval personnel from the two countries showcased their mariner skills and interoperability.
The Commanding Officer of HMAS Toowoomba, Commander Andrew Quinn said the opportunity to “cross-deck” allowed two Royal Australian Navy (RAN) Officers and three Petty Officers each day to experience the battle space on PNS Alamgir while reciprocal Pakistan Navy ranks had a similar opportunity on Toowoomba.
PAF PAF Emphasis on Rigorous Training of Its Officers
Pakistan Air Force (PAF) is fully aware of the need for advance training of fighter officers. This was said by the Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman at the graduation ceremony of the combat commanders’ course at the PAF Musaf base.
Chief of the Air Staff said that Pakistan Air Force would make up for shortage high tech gear with rigorous training of its officers t meet the challenges of the ever changing nature of aerial warfare.

46 IAF Fighter Jet Crashed in 7 Last Years
On Average Indian Air Force (IAF) is losing over 6 fighter jets each year from last 7 years. This was disclosed by the Indian defense minister A K Antony in front of the Rajya Sabha. He said that IAF has lost 46 fighter jets since 2005.
In his reply to the question he said in the Rajya Sabha, "During 2008 to August 17, 2011, a total of 26 fighter planes of IAF had crashed. During the preceding three-year period of 2005 to 2008, 20 IAF fighter planes had crashed."
Pakistan Air Force to acquire L-3 Link Simulation & Training for F-16 Aircrew
Under a contract signed with Pakistan, L-3 Link Simulation & Training (L-3 Link) will provide 2 F-16C Block 52 Aircrew Training Devices (ATDs) to the Pakistan Air Force.
L-3 Link Simulation & Training’s simulators will be installed and networked at the Pakistan Air Force’s Shahbaz Air Base in 2013. PAF plans to use these F-16C Block 52 ATDs for the training of its fighter pilots.
“These F-16C Block 52 Aircrew Training Devices will be built on proven and cost-effective common hardware and software designs that will enable L-3 Link to deliver a solution tailored to meet Pakistan Air Force training requirements,” explains Leonard Genna, president of L-3 Link.

China Launches Pakistani Communications Satellite PAKSAT-1R
China has launched Pakistan’s first Communications Satellite PAKSAT-1R this Thursday. PAKSAT-1R was on August 14, 2011(Independence Day of Pakistan) at 2117 hrs on board Chinese Satellite Launch Vehicle from the Xichang Satellite Launch Centre.
Female Fighter Pilot Ejects Safely from F-7 Fighter Jet
Chinese made F-7 fighter jet of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) crashed near the Kalur Kot Khakkar after suffering from the technical problems. Fighter aircraft was on a routine flight from the Mianwali airbase of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF).
Pakistan Air Force has disclosed that the female fighter pilot was safely able to eject from the F-7 fighter jet. Flying Officer Nida was on a routine operational training mission when her F-7 crashed due to technical problems.
Pakistan Air Force is already replacing its old F-7 and Mirage-III/V fighter jets with locally developed JF-17 Thunder fighter jets.

Court-Martial Recommended Against Three Senior Naval Officers
Investigation into PNS Mehran Base attack has been completed and court-martial has been recommended against three senior naval officers. The action is being taken on the recommendation of the Inquiry Board, headed by Admiral Tehseen Ullah.
Authorities had initiated court-martial against Commanding Officer Mehran Base Captain Israr, Naval Aviation Commander Commodore Tahir and security officer Mehran Base Lieutenant Commander Ibrar.

Pakistan Air Force Oders Additional Mid-Life Update Kits for Its F-16A/B
Pakistan air force has confirmed the order for the additional Enhanced Modernization Program kits for its F-16A/B Block 15 aircraft.
This Foreign Military Sales contract is worth $42.31 million. Pakistan Air Force (PAF) plans to upgrade all 45 F-16A/B Block 15 fighter aircrafts with the Mid-Life Update (MLU) kits.
