The fighter aircrafts of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has attacked the hideouts of the Taliban militants in the northwestern parts of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA). Air-strikes by the Pakistani fighter jets has resulted in the death of at least 10 militants while another five were wounded.
These strikes were conducted in the Kurram Agecny areas of Ali Sherzai, Masuzai and Satakai to destroy the recently discovered Taliban hideouts.
Air Chief Marshall Rao Qamar Suleiman, in his speech at the Air Chiefs Conference in Dubai said that Pakistan Air Force (PAF) had flown over 5,500 strike sorties against targets in the tribal area and dropped over 10,600 bombs which resulted in the destruction of some 4,600 targets. He added that Pakistan Air Force used Laser-guided bombs in 80% of the strikes.
Pakistan Air Force is using the Star Safire III EO/IR sensor ball with its C-130 transport aircraft and to track the movement of Taliban terrorist groups at night.
Pakistan Air Force has also employed Goodrich DB-110/RAPTOR Airborne Reconnaissance Pod with F-16s to capture the images for target identification, target verification and strike damage assessment in day or night and transmitted them to the ground stations in real time via datalink.
