Large number of NATO supply trucks are stuck at the Karachi port in Pakistan after Pakistan blocked the NATO supply routes. International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan relies heavily on the Pakistani permission for most of its daily supplies as Pakistani route is much shorter and cheaper then the other alternatives.
Pakistan has blocked the supply route after ISAF/NATO helicopters and fighter jets strikes against Pakistani border posts which killed 24 Pakistani soldiers.
Pakistani supply route becomes even more important in the winter when Russian supply routes is closed due to snowfall and heavy supplies could only be moved to Afghanistan through Pakistan.
