Times Call ISI Chief Shuja Pasha as 17th Most Influential Person on Earth

Times Magazine has published its list of 100 most influential people of 2011. Times Magazine has placed the ISI Chief Lieutenant-general Ahmad Shuja Pasha at 17th place in the list containing names of 100 most influential people of 2011.

Vice President of United States, Joe Baiden is on number 14 while first lady of United States Michelle Obama is on 22nd position, French President Nicolas Sarkozi is on 32 and United States Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is on number 45 in the list of 100 most influential people of 2011.

The 2011 TIME 100 is the list of the most influential people in the world. List includes artists and activists, reformers and researchers, heads of state and leaders of industry. People in the list can influence dialogue and wars and sometimes even revolution.

Here is what Time Magazine has to say about the ISI Chief Lieutenant-general Ahmad Shuja Pasha.
Within weeks of Lieut. General Ahmed Shuja Pasha's becoming head of Pakistan's top intelligence agency, ISI, in 2008, terrorist attacks in Mumbai seriously roiled already stressed U.S.-Pakistani relations. Pasha, 59, has grown progressively more suspicious of U.S. motives and staying power. The arrest of a U.S. government contractor in Lahore has led to acrimony.

And larger changes in Pakistan — the growth of fundamentalism, nationalism and anti-Americanism — have squeezed the space in which any ISI chief can cooperate with the U.S. Pasha, a Pakistani patriot and American partner, now must find these two roles even more difficult to reconcile — and at a time when much of U.S. counterterrorism success depends on exactly that.
