Yesterday, NATO helicopters entered into Pakistani airspace from Afghanistan and fired on a Pakistani post which resulted into the injuries to the two Pakistani soldiers. Clash too place on at Admi Kot Post in the North Waziristan tribal region of Pakistan.
Pakistani Army has confirmed that NATO helicopters crossed the international border and fired at the Pakistani military post in the area. Pakistani Army has “lodged a strong protest and demanded a flag meeting.”
Last year in September, Pakistan had to stop the land route for NATO supply for more than a week after NATO forces attacked in similar fashion and killed two Pakistani troops.
This incident reveals the complex nature of the relationship between Pakistan, USA and NATO over the issue of countering terrorism. Pakistan which stationed over 120,000 troops along with the border of Afghanistan to help stop the terrorists. These has been frequently targeted by the NATO’s illegal attacks on Pakistani military posts.
