Pakistan Navy Receives Two Tanker-Cum-Utility Ships

Pakistan Navy has received two Tanker-Cum-Utility Ships (STUS) from the Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works (KSEW).

These small Tanker-Cum-Utility Ships are 47.2 m long with displacement of 1600 tonnes. These ships use steerable rudder propellers and bow thrusters to change their direction and are equipped with modern navigation and communication system.


Pakistan Navy will use these Tanker-Cum-Utility Ships for logistic support operations in the coastal stations and for other operations like torpedo recovery, mine laying, search & rescue activities and replenishment of ships.

Commander Pakistan Naval Fleet, Vice Admiral Abbas Raza has said that Pakistan Navy will continue to support the Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works (KSEW) as it is a strategic industry which helps PN in self-reliance.

Pakistan Navy ordered two Small Tanker Cum Utility Ships (STUS) from Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works (KS&EW) at a total cost of US$ 20 Million on May 04, 2007.
