Hillary Clinton in Pakistan to Discuss Pakistani Cooperation in WOT

United States’ Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has arrived in Pakistan to discuss the worsening relationship between Pakistan and United States since the secret attack by the US SEALs which resulted in the death of Osama bin Laden.

Secretary of State will meet Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and Chief of Army Staff, General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani,

On one hand, lawmakers in the United States are questioning the Pakistani commitment to fight against terrorists and are lobbying to cut the $7.5 billion aid while on the other hand Pakistani lawmakers are calling for cutting back on the cooperation with the United States with some even calling for closing the supply route use by the NATO and United States to support their troops in Afghanistan.

Admiral Michael Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff has already reached Pakistan. These high profile visits are following the diplomatic efforts started by the by Democratic Senator John Kerry of Massachusetts to limit the damage to mutual relationship.

At Pakistan request Unites States has already started pulling out its instructor training Pakistani forces from Pakistan.

While US side questions the Pakistani commitment to fight terrorists, Pakistani side questions the US commitment to Pakistan and its efforts to provide adequate equipment for fight militants. Pakistanis are of the view that United States is holding back very important equipment like gunship helicopters, heavy weight transport helicopters, unmand aerial vehicles and surveillance equipment because US feels sale of such equipment will upset its new partner India.
