Medal Parade at Bukavu (Democratic Republic of Congo) to Award UN Medals to Pakistani Troops

Pak Army troops serving in Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) were awarded UN medals in an impressive medal parade ceremony held in Bukavu on 23 March 2012. Force Commander, MONUSCO Lieutenant General Parkash was the Chief Guest on the occasion. He along with other dignitaries awarded UN medals to the officers and troops of Pakistan Contingent VII.

While congratulating the Pakistani troops on the successful completion of their tenure, the chief guest lauded the efforts and sacrifices of Pakistan Army Personnel for restoration of peace and stability in this region. He appreciated the discipline and professionalism shown by this contingent during their tenure of duty in South Kivu.

Earlier, a spectacular medal parade was witnessed by honorable guests which included Acting Governor of the South Kivu, Mr Etienne Babunga, Contingent Commanders, Senior Military Personnel of Congolese Army / Police, UN Officials and other notables of the province.

 The Infantry Battalions drill was greatly appreciated by the audience. Parade also included Commando platoon unarmed combat performance, helicopter repelling, army band performance and motorized column march past. These events proved to be icing on the cake as the audience cheered and applauded at the magnificent performance of Pakistani troops. The event ended with a group photo of all the participants of the parade with the chief guest.

Air Chief Marshal Tahir Rafique Butt Meets General Khalid Wynne

Air Chief Marshal, Tahir Rafique Butt, newly appointed Chief of Air Staff called on General Khalid Shameem Wynne, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) here at Joint Staff Headquarters. He remained with Chairman for some time and discussed matters related to professional interests.

CJCSC General Wynne Meets Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa

General Khalid Shameem Wynne Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), who is on an official visit to Sri Lanka called on H.E. Mahinda Rajapaksa, the President of Sri Lanka. Chairman discussed matters related to mutual interest and regional situation with the dignitary.

 Earlier, Chairman called on Air Chief Marshal WDRMJ Goonetileke, Chief of Defence Staff Sri Lankan Armed Forces. On arrival at the Office of Chief of Defence Staff he was presented guard of honour by a smartly turned out contingent of Sri Lankan tri services. 

Both commanders had a detailed discussion on enhancing defence cooperation between the two friendly armed forces. Chairman also called on Honourable Gotabaya Rajapaksa, the Secretary of Defence and Urban Development.

India Becomes World's Largest Importer of Weapons

The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) has ranked India as top importer of weapons and United States, Russia, Germany, France and the United Kingdom are the top imports.

The largest recipients of arms in the 2007-2011 period were India (10%) South Korea (6%), Pakistan (5%), China (5%) and Singapore (4%).

Pakistan Navy to Commission fourth F-22P Frigate

Arabian Sea - Continuing to enhance its fighting capabilities and maintain the minimum deterrence, the Pakistan Navy would commission the fourth F-22P Frigate being built in collaboration with China and two latest fast attack craft within a year reported.

The F-22P, a multi-mission conventionally-powered frigate, is being built at Pakistan Shipyard. Under the deal with China, the PNS Aslat (the name of sword) will be inducted by April 2013, said an official of Pakistan Navy during a briefing onboard PNS Shamsheer.

New DG ISI and Chief of Air Staff Take Command

Air Marshal Tahir Rafique Butt on Monday took over as the new Chief of the Air Staff of Pakistan Air Force. Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman was due to retire on March 18, 2012, on completion of his three-year tenure.

General Shameem Wynne Leaves For Sri Lanka

General Khalid Shameem Wynne, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee today left for four days official visit to Sri Lanka. During the visit the Chairman will meet HE Mahinda Rajapaksa the President of Sri Lanka, Secretary Defence and the senior military hierarchy of Sri Lankan Tri-Services.

Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman May Head PIA

 The current Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman may head the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) after his retirement this month.

He is being tipped as the new chairman of PIA to deal with the corrupt state-owned corporation which has accumulatedlosses of over Rs1,000 billion during the last four years.

Pakistan Navy Relaxes Recruitment Criteria For Bloch Candidates

The Pakistan Navy (PN) has established a naval selection and recruitment centre at Gwadar as part of its efforts to encourage and induct the youth from Balochistan. 

Under this scheme, young students from Balochistan will be admitted in the selected cadet colleges for a period of five years with option to join Pakistan Navy later on.

Pakistan Navy will offer special relaxation academic and age criteria to the candidates from Balochistan and it will inducted officers in Short Service Commission without undergoing the Inter-Services Selection Board.

Both males and females can apply for the permanent commission in the General Duties (Pilot) course.

Air Marshal Tahir Rafique Butt has been appointed the new Chief of the Air Staff of Pakistan Air Force by the  President Asif Ali Zardari and he will take over the command of the Pakistan Air Force on the 19th of this month.



JF-17 Thunder Destroys Targets With Live Ammunition In Exercise


The JF-17 Thunder fighter jets of the Pakistan  Pakistan Air Force have for the first time participated in squadron level exercise which included the use of live ammunition. The JF-17 Thunder has been developed by jointly developed by the Pakistan aeronautical complex and Chengdu Aircraft Industries Corporation (CAC).

Pakistani PNS Babur Frigate Docks in Jubail, Saudi Arabia

Pakistani warship PNS Babur is visiting the Saudi Arabia on a good will mission and has docked at the port of Jubail.

Officials of the Royal Saudi Navy including Rear Adm. Abdul Karim bin Hussain Abuola, Eastern Fleet commander, Rear Adm. Ghasham bin Manahi Al-Qahtani, Eastern Fleet deputy commander, Commodore Adil Al-Ghamdi, base commander Naval Base Jubail and large number of Pakistani citizens residing in the Kingdom attended the reception on Monday night.

Pakistan Tests Hatf II Abdali Short Range Ballistic Missile

Pakistan Army Strategic Forces Command (ASFC) has successfully tested Hatf II Abdali ballistic missile with range 180 kilometres.

Test was part of the Pakistan Strategic Forces Commands (PSFC) process to have an effective nuclear attack capability at  tactical level.

India Deploys Additional BrahMos Missiles Along Pakistani Border

Indian army has stepped up its perpetrations to implement the 'Cold Start' war doctrine by inducting additional unit of BrahMos supersonic cruise missile regiment which will be deployed near Pakistani border.

BrahMos supersonic cruise missile is a customised version of the Russian Yakhont (P-800 Oniks)supersonic anti-ship cruise missile. BrahMos has been jointly customised by the Indian Defence Research and Development Organisation ( DRDO) and Russian Federal State Unitary Enterprise NPO Mashinostroyenia ( NPOM) under BrahMos Aerospace to meet the Indian requirements for land attack role beside its traditional anti-ship role.

COAS General Kayani Visited Forward Locations in Gilgit Baltistan

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani visited Skardu and Forward Locations at Minimerg and Domel Sectors in Gilgit Baltistan,. 

 The COAS was briefed about the current internal security situation of the region, in the aftermath of shahadat of 18 innocent citizens at Harban Nullah, Dassu on 28 February 2012.
