The FAAZ-1 is a beyond-visual-range air-to-air missile (BVRAAM) developed by Pakistan’s state-owned enterprises, primarily the Air Weapons Complex (AWC) under the National Engineering and Scientific Commission (NESCOM). Marketed by Global Industrial and Defence Solutions (GIDS), the FAAZ-1 represents a significant step in Pakistan’s efforts to achieve self-reliance in advanced defense technologies. Designed to meet the operational needs of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF), this missile is part of a broader initiative to locally produce critical munitions, including precision-guided and air-launched systems.

One of the key features of the FAAZ-1 is its versatility. The dual-seeker options allow the missile to engage a variety of targets under different operational conditions, enhancing its effectiveness in modern aerial combat. The FAAZ-1 is available in two variants, each equipped with different guidance systems: an active-radar homing (ARH) version and an imaging infrared (IIR) version.

Both variants offer a maximum range of 100 kilometers, making them effective for engaging targets at long distances. Pakistan sems to be focused on developing indigenous capabilities while potentially leveraging existing technologies to accelerate progress.

The FAAZ-1 ARH variant is ideal for all-weather, beyond-visual-range engagements, while the IIR variant provides enhanced precision in close-range scenarios. The missile is powered by a solid-fuel though specific details about its propulsion system, weight, and dimensions remain classified.

The development of the FAAZ-1 underscores Pakistan’s commitment to reducing reliance on foreign defense imports and building a robust domestic defense industry. By focusing on indigenous production, Pakistan aims to ensure greater control over its defense capabilities and reduce vulnerabilities associated with external supply chains. Additionally, the FAAZ-1 program aligns with the PAF’s long-term strategy to modernize its arsenal and maintain a competitive edge in regional air defense.

In summary, while dual-seeker FAAZ-1 is a testament to Pakistan’s growing expertise in missile technology, missile still falls short of PAF's expections, therefore Pakistan continues to invest in indigenous defense projects and  FAAZ-1 serves as a steping stone of its efforts to develop more advance FAAZ-2 with enhansed range and dual plus motor for operational use.
