After the detailed negotiations contract was signed in on June 29, 2009 at a ceremony held in Rawalpindi-Pakistan between TAI and Pakistan Ministry of Defense Production.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br> </div><div style="text-align: justify;">Pakistan Air Force had ordered a total of 111 F-16A/B aircraft in early 1980s but 71 F-16 A/B were embargoed by the United States in 1990s. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br> </div><div style="text-align: justify;">A total of 28 out of these 71 F-16s were paid for and produced and later on sent to AMARC for storage. It was only after the 9/11 incident that US greed to sell new F-16 C/D Block 52+ aircrafts to the PAF and allowed the transfer of 14 of F-16A/B to PAF.<br> </div></div>

This makes F-16 C/D Block 52+ first air craft in Pakistani service that is equipped with such capability. By the end of 2010, JF-17 Thunders with SD-10A BVRAAM will join the F-16 C/D Block 52+ fighter jets to provide airdefense with long range BVRAAMs.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br> </div><div style="text-align: justify;">AIM-120 AMRAAM is the most advance western missile in its category which was designed as an all-weather, active radar-guided missile to destroy the threats beyond the line of sight. Fist version of AIM-120 was designated AIM-120A and an improved version was developed from 1989 called AIM-120B. AIM-120 C was developed with a reduced wing and fin span to fit inside the internal weapons carriage on the F-22 Raptor stealth aircraft.<br> </div>

Delivery of these advance 18 F-16 C/D Block-52+ fighter aircrafts will be completed by December 2010. The 18 F-16 C/D Block-52+ aircrafts ordered by the Pakistan air force includes 12 F-16Cs (single seat) and six F-16Ds (dual seat)- with and option on another 18 F-16 C/D Block-52+ fighter.
