Pakistan air force has sent its newly developed aircraft JF-17 Thunder to the Zhuhai Airshow 2010. This is the first time aircraft will be performing in front of the international audience. JF-17 Thunder is jointly developed by the Pakistan and China to meet the requirements of Pakistan air force.
JF-17 Thunder will be able to carry SD-10A BVRAAM and different WVRAAMs to defend the friendly skies from any intruders and different kind of standoff precision guided weapons for ground attack and C-802A antiship missiles with range of 180km for maritime attack.
Pakistan air force plans to purchase atleast 250 of these fighter jets to replace very old aircrafts like Nanchang A-5, Chengdu F-7P / PG and Dassault Mirage III / V fighter aircraft. This is a very low cost aircraft which Pakistan and China are looking to sell to the countries looking to replace their aging fighter jets with modern aircrafts but lack funding to purchase extremely expensive western fighter jets .
