Punjab government has asked the Pakistan Navy to move its Naval War College from the GOR-1. Chief Secretary of Punjab has approached the Pakistan Navy to relocate the Naval War College to a safer neighborhood.
Chief Secretary of Punjab has earlier tried to convince the Naval War College's administration to relocate the college either in the cantonment or in Islamabad. This college has been the target of the terrorists in past and was attacked by suicide bombers on March 4, 2008.
Chief Secretary of Punjab has requested the Defense Secretary for the relocation of Naval War College as Punjab government feels that college was exposed to the threats of terrorist attacks.
Additional IG Counter Terrorism Punjab Mushtaq Sukhera has also enforced this relocation request as he feels that current location can make the Naval War College an easy target for the Terrorists.
Naval War College was established in a house of the GOR-I, 1 Broomhead Road, facing the Aitchison College on The Upper Mall in 1995.
Federal government of Pakistan had canceled allotment for the Naval War College 6 months ago even after repeated requests by Pakistan Navy to withdraw the orders.
