History was created on Sixtieth Independence day of Pakistan when a fifteen year old kid from Karachi joined Pakistan Army as a soldier.
Master Abdul Basit a very young and patriotic boy suffering from the blood cancer in an interview with a NGO "Make A Wish Foundation" said that his ultimate wish is to become a soldier in Pakistan Army to serve his mother land.
This wish of Master Abdul Basit made its way to the Chief of Pakistan Army, General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani through "Make A Wish Foundation". Chief of Army Staff, General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani being inspired by the aspirations of brave young Master Abdul Basit decided to issue a special order to the Pakistan Army under which this youngster was allowed to become the youngest soldier of Pakistan Army for a day so that dreams of Abdul Basit can become reality.
Very weak and fragile Master Abdul Basit put on the uniform of professional sol;dier of Pakistan Army on the 63rd Independence day of Pakistan and reported to unit of Punjab Regiment at Malir Cantt Karachi.
This brave teenager was welcomed at the unit and he spent his day with the officers and Jawans of the unit. He trained with the soldiers of the unit and later on Master Abdul Basit along with other jawans and Officers of the saluted the national flag of Pakistan in an impressive ceremony.
General Officer Commanding, Major General Asfand Yar Patodi presented Master Basit with a souvenir on the behalf of Pakistan Army for becoming youngest soldier of Pakistan Army.
Master Abdul Basit told the national media that it was the dream of his life to join Pakistan Army as a soldier which has now become a reality due to the efforts of "Make A Wish Foundation” and he also thanked the Chief of Army Staff, General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani and his unit members who permited him to be a soldier. He said that he had loved every minute that he spent with the soldiers in his unit.
Every Pakistani boy and girl is born as a soldier of this nation at the time of crisis... Long Live Pakistan Army
