Helicopter Carrying DG Punjab Rangers Crashes

Helicopter carrying the Punjab Ranger's Director General (DG), Maj-Gen Nawaz, his son Capt Asif Nawaz, pilot Lt-Col Amir Abbas and technician Subedar Ibadullah has crashed into the Indus River at Bakhri Ahmad Khan about 40 kilometres from Layyah district.

DG Rangers Punjab was on his way to Kashmore from Dera Ismail Khan when crash occurred.

So far body of Capt Asif Nawaz had been recovered while operation to find remaining bodies was called off after nightfall due to bad weather.

Helicopter crahsed due to highly turbulent weather and some eye witness claimed that helicopter was in flames it fell the river.This confirms the statement of the DPO Layyah Ch Muhammad Saleem who said that helicopter caught fire in the air Three helicopters were sent to the scene immediately for the rescue and recovery operation. 

Pilot Amir Abbas made his last contacted with the Multan base at 10:12am.
